Throughout his life, Steve Logan has had the spirit of adventure pulsing throughout his soul. From his early days surfing up and down the east coast of  Florida all the way to Hawaii, during his tours of duty in Vietnam,  setting up a not-so-legitimate business throughout the Caribbean, then later retiring from that life and going legit, he made friends and  associates that would benefit him throughout his life and he would benefit theirs.

Steve's  good-natured, mischievous, intelligent, savvy and cunning, a shrewd  businessman, an expert with firearms, and a master in the martial arts. What sets him apart from most is what he was taught by his parents from an early age. Compassion, loyalty to those he calls his friends,  fairness, honesty, and if he can, help those that are deserving. Those aware of his reputation know not to cross him or those closest to him. Those that make the mistake and do, end up wishing they hadn't.

Up to this  point, Steve had lived an exciting but solitary life with a few  relationships thrown in from time to time. Of course there had been women but nothing to the point of even considering making anything long term. The problem was he never could find a woman he could consider as an equal partner, someone that would be a challenge to him, both  intellectually and mentally, had the same zest for life and adventure, but mostly accept the motley crew he called friends and his colorful and sometimes tempestuous life.

No way could he have predicted how one hurricane would affect his future.

Once Wendy came into Steve Logan's life, their lives would never be the same.

There  comes a time when a man finds himself in a quandary. He wants to change directions and set out on a new path...a new direction in his life but he doesn't want to leave his old life totally behind since he's addicted to the excitement and adrenaline rush of his past.

Steve Logan has found himself in that predicament. He longs to pursue the  fantasies and dreams he's had for a long time, but his old life won't let  him go and deep down he doesn't want it to, not totally anyway.  Situations come up that requires his full attention keeping him on the old road he's been traveling for a very long time. Obstacles keep getting in the way of his setting out on a new path.

Striking a balance is the key, but finding that fulcrum is where the difficulty lies.

Steve's dream of owning a fly fishing lodge in the Caribbean is about to become a  reality, but he still has that wanderlust spirit. He has become totally  aware he'll never be able to fully retire and he's perfectly content with that eventuality.

Sometimes he bitches about wanting to take things easier, but then a situation  arises that he feels needs his attention, that's when the adrenaline starts to pulse through his veins...a physical condition he's addicted to, an addiction he lives for. His thirst for adventure peaks when a challenge or puzzle  presents itself, and he's found the perfect partner who has become more  than compatible with his lifestyle and is eager and capable of being  part of the team. He is about to realize how valuable she is and what  she means to him when a nemesis from his past comes back into the  picture.

He  continues to live by his motto, "When I get to the point when I can no  longer live the life I want to live, that's when I'll die. Until  then..."

With Bonny out of the way, it seems like things would calm down, and for the  most part they did. Melanie has been bugging Steve to let her write his  memoirs, and up to this point, he was hesitant, but not so much now.  There were a few things he didn't want to talk about...his experiences in  Vietnam.

Peace and quiet doesn't last too long. Seems George,  the Governor/General of the Bahamas needs his help and as usual, one thing leads to another.

On the plus side, events lead him to get reacquainted and reform a bond with his uncle, Otter.

Finally, Steve and Wendy find the time to take a few days to relax at his  fishing lodge, take advantage of some fishing, and read the manuscript  Melanie has been working on. But the more he reads, he realizes there are some problems that need to be addressed.

His rest and relaxation is interrupted when, on their way to New  Providence, Valerie and Mary pay a visit to let him know Gail needs his help. That sets him off on a mission that will find him teamed up with Otter and his friends to take care of a situation in which he is all too familiar.

After  returning home from a very strange Christmas in their new house on  Kauai, Steve and Wendy are asked by Gail to help with her brother who's  after her inheritance.

Wendy is proving herself to be more of a competent asset than Steve ever imagined. He always knew she was extremely intelligent, but she has more than earned his admiration and respect with regards to her wide range of abilities, and his close  associates are starting to recognize them as well. But it will be her insight and intuition that will be more than invaluable with what lies  ahead.

A questionable real estate salesman, the return of a big fish to a small pond, an almost successful attempt on the life of one of his closest associates, and corrupt carpetbaggers gives Steve and Wendy a multi-layered puzzle for him and his friends to solve.

All this starts with the up and disappearance of a close friend which turns into somebody messing with Sully half way around the world, a crooked inspector, fish problems, running into the guy that messed up my boat, a rescue attempt, justice served big time...but not necessarily in that order.
